RRS 44.3(c): the penalty is the stated % (default 20%) of the DNF score, rounded to the nearest tenth of a point (0.05 up), and never makes the score worse than DNF. Other boats are not re-ranked. 5 competitors, N=5, DNF score=6. Alice finishes 1st + SCP (default 20%) → 1 + 0.20×6 = 1 + 1.2 = 2.2. Bob finishes 2nd + SCP (override 30%) → 2 + 0.30×6 = 2 + 1.8 = 3.8. Carol finishes 3rd → 3. Dave finishes 4th → 4. Eve finishes 5th → 5.
