F5 net+net carry: the qualifying and final series are scored separately and added, so each discards its own worst race
29er (and classes using the same two-series wording) 2025 — Championship sailing instructions using the net-plus-net formulation · F5 · SI (Typical wording — see notes) · results (n/a — constructed to isolate the carry rule)
2 qualifying fleets · → Gold/Silver · discards: 1 discard from race 3.
The distinguishing wording: "A boat's regatta score will be the total of her
Qualifying Series score, plus her Final Series score", with the discard rule
applying *separately* to each series ("when THREE or more races have been
completed, a boat's series score will be the total of her race scores
excluding her worst score").
That is the whole difference from continuous carry, and this fixture isolates
it: 6 races are sailed under a one-discard-from-3-races ladder. Under
continuous carry the boat would drop ONE score (the ladder has no second
threshold); under net+net she drops one from each series — two in total.
Hand-verification (fleets of 3, so races score 1/2/3):
Qualifying, worst of three dropped:
y1 1,1,2 → 4, drop 2 → 2 b1 1,3,1 → 5, drop 3 → 2
y2 2,3,1 → 6, drop 3 → 3 b2 3,1,2 → 6, drop 3 → 3
y3 3,2,3 → 8, drop 3 → 5 b3 2,2,3 → 7, drop 3 → 4
Qualifying ranking: b1 and y1 tie on 2 with equal score lists, so A8.2 takes
the last race (Q3: b1 1, y1 2) → b1 first. y2 and b2 tie on 3, and A8.2 (Q3:
y2 1, b2 2) puts y2 ahead. Order: b1, y1, y2, b2, b3, y3.
Split into equal blocks: Gold b1/y1/y2, Silver b2/b3/y3.
Final series, worst of three dropped again:
b1 1,3,1 → 5, drop 3 → 2 b2 1,3,2 → 6, drop 3 → 3
y1 2,1,3 → 6, drop 3 → 3 b3 2,1,3 → 6, drop 3 → 3
y2 3,2,2 → 7, drop 3 → 4 y3 3,2,1 → 6, drop 3 → 3
Silver's three all finish on 3 with equal score lists; A8.2 on F3 (y3 1,
b2 2, b3 3) orders them y3, b2, b3.
Championship = qualifying net + final net:
b1 2+2=4 y1 2+3=5 y2 3+4=7 | b2 3+3=6 b3 4+3=7 y3 5+3=8
The fleet band dominates the ranking, so Silver's 6 sits below Gold's 7.
