F3 abandoned finale: the Final series never sails, the halving is undone, and the boat one point ahead on the Qualification series takes the title

Amendment 5 (29 August 2026) turned SI 18.7.5 around:
was If no race in the Final series is completed, the adjusted scores
(see SI 18.7.3) will be determined as the event final result.
now If no race in the Final series is completed, the Qualification
series score without adjusting it as stated in SI 18.7.3, will
determine the event final result.
That brings the SIs into line with NoR 15.4, which had always said the
undivided thing, and it is how the engine applies a halved carry: the
division waits for a Final series race to be completed rather than taking
effect the moment the ten are picked.
The reversal is not cosmetic, and this fixture is built to show why.
Halving never reorders two boats — but it lands boats a point apart on the
same whole number, and SI 18.7.4 then settles them on the last race. So the
boat behind can take the title purely because the Final series was blown
off. Here y1 finishes the Qualification series on 5 and b1 on 6:
old reading both halve to 3 (5/2 = 2.5, rounded up), and the last race
sailed is F2, where b1 beat y1 — so b1 is world champion.
new reading 5 beats 6 — y1 is world champion, and there is no tie for
SI 18.7.4 to settle.
Read the medal boats' rows: their race scores are not greyed, and the
"Carried" column shows the halved score for both — greyed, because it is
computed and shown from the moment the ten are picked but counts nothing
until a Final series race is completed. Their championship scores are the
Qualification series scores they actually sailed.
Hand check, DNC base 5 in the Preliminary series (largest fleet 4 + 1) and
5 in the Elimination series (own fleet 4 + 1), one discard from 3 races,
at most one of them from the Elimination series:
y1 Q 1,1,2 F 1,2 -> discard a 2 = 5 <- champion
b1 Q 1,2,2 F 2,1 -> discard a 2 = 6
b2 Q 2,1,1 F 4,3 -> discard F1's 4 = 7
y2 Q 2,2,1 F 3,4 -> discard F2's 4 = 8
