F1 ILCA 2026: the labels the notice board posted (QP/QE), and a discard that may fall in either stage

These sailing instructions number the Preliminary and Elimination series in
one sequence — SI 18.4's discard table is keyed to it, "Q1-Q2 … Q3-Q9 …
Q10-Q12" — and the event posted QP1–QP5 then QE1 onward instead. QP, QE and
F are the labels the 2026 wording carries, so this fixture's preview column
headings are the ones on the real published page.

The labels change no arithmetic: the discard ladder counts races, and at 9
races the real event allowed one discard exactly as SI 18.4's Q3-Q9 row
says. Real Dun Laoghaire was 2 fleets of ~54 (Gold/Yellow and Silver/Blue in
the published tables), 5 Preliminary races then 4 Elimination races at the
point this was captured, one discard, DNC = largest Preliminary fleet + 1.
Reduced here to 2 fleets of 3 over QP1-QP3 + QE1-QE2, so the single discard
is unlocked (ILCA's 2026 ladder opens it at 3 races) and every cell is
checkable by hand.

Two things worth reading off the table. The discard may land in either
stage: y1 and b1 each drop an Elimination score, which SI 18.4 permits
because two Elimination races were completed and at most one may be
excluded. And where a boat's worst score is tied — b2 scored 3 in both QP3
and QE1 — the earlier race is the one excluded (RRS A2.1), so her discard
stays in the Preliminary series. `expected` verified against the engine.
